The Trinity Challenge announces inspiring winners from Africa, Asia, the Middle East and Latin America in its third antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Youth Funding Competition

The Trinity Challenge today announced the winners of its third antimicrobial resistance (AMR) Youth Funding Competition, supporting youth-led projects across Cameroon, Ecuador, China, India, Jordan, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda. The global initiative empowers young leaders to address one of the world’s most pressing public health challenges: the antibiotic emergency.

Antimicrobial resistance is a growing global threat that undermines the effectiveness of life-saving medicines and is estimated to cause up to 39 million deaths worldwide over the next 25 years.

The winning projects span community health, food chain, environment, language, livestock animals, and companion animals. Selected from a highly competitive pool of 182 applications across 41 countries, the winning teams will receive up to £7, 500 in funding to deliver their campaigns, all of which launch today.
The competition focused on campaigns designed to encourage behaviour change.  The winning projects reflect a wide range of approaches, including  translating   AMR advice into multiple local languages in Nigeria, the creation of a youth ambassador network in Jordan, and supporting pet vaccination in Tanzania to help reduce unnecessary antibiotic prescribing.

A panel of expert judges led the selection process, with winners chosen based on the impact, feasibility, and potential of their proposals to mitigate antimicrobial resistance through awareness-raising and behaviour change. The projects are designed to educate, engage, and deliver practical, community-level solutions to help reduce the spread of antimicrobial resistance.

“The third cohort of Trinity Challenge youth winners exemplifies the power of community-led behaviour change. Following our first two competitions that focused on human and animal health, we are happy to see diverse campaigns this time across the One Health spectrum. I am excited to see how these campaigns develop and drive positive change where it matters most,” said Dame Sally Davies, Executive Chair and Founder of the Trinity Challenge.

The Trinity Challenge is thrilled to support the following winning projects:
Cure-ious Minds RAM – working with the Catholic University of Cuenca (Universidad Católica de Cuenca), Ecuador
Dispose Safely, Protect our Planet – working with Washington State University Global Health-Kenya (WSU GH-K), Kenya
