Data sharing & pandemics: to do better next time

 

As part of a Special Report on Communicable Diseases, published today by The Financial Times, Dame Sally Davies writes that if we are to do better in the next pandemic, the collection, storage and use of data must play a core role in pandemic preparedness and the response. There are lessons that must be learnt now — for both public health and healthcare systems — and applied across all countries. Future response efforts depend on coordination between global healthcare systems.
